Penne pasta with basil pesto sauce

For this recipe you will need:
10 oz (300 g) penne rigate
3 L water
6 tbsp basil pesto sauce
1 handful fresh basil leaves
salt to taste

Penne is a kind of pasta that is in the shape of short hollow tubes with beveled edges.

Penne cooked to al dente stage is added to casseroles and salads, and often served as a main dish with different sauces.

In this recipe, we used ribbed penne dressed with basil pesto sauce.


Preparation:

1. Dip the penne pasta in boiling salted water and stir.

2. Cover the pan with a lid until the water begins to boil again (about half a minute).

3. Remove the cover, reduce heat and simmer until penne pasta is al dente (9-12 minutes).

4. Dilute thick basil pesto with the pasta broth. Diluted sauce envelops the pasta better than thick sauce.

5. Drain the pasta into a hot colander, then shift it into the saucepan and mix with basil pesto sauce.

6. Serve penne pasta in hot plates, topping with fresh basil leaves.
