Sausage & Cheese Twisted Pie Recipe

For this recipe you will need:
1 packet puff pastry
Pre-cooked sausage
Cheese
Dill
1 egg yolk

The author of the recipe version is Lady Bee 

This recipe is a home version of the KIHI pie recipe, or snail shaped pie recipe (Greek food), which are named so because, in the classic recipe, the pie is shaped into a spiral like a snail.

Preparation:

1. Roll out a puff pastry as thin as possible.

Cut the pastry sheet into long strips about 6 cm wide.


2. Prepare the stuffing.

For the first stuffing: grate the pre-cooked sausage.

For the second stuffing: mix grated hard cheese with chopped dill.

3. Put the two types of stuffing onto separate pastry strips.

4. Create a long stuffed roll by pressing the strip’s long edges together lengthwise.


5. Lay the stuffed rolls in tight coils in a pie pan, alternating stuffing.

6. Spread a yolk over the dough and bake the pie in preheated oven for 20 - 25 minutes at 180 - 200 °C.(375°F)

Note:

You can make any stuffing you like.

You can make the snail pie with a single stuffing.

You can make the snail pie with any quantity of stuffings.
